About Mark
Decades on the circuit. Still reading the room.
Award-winning writer and stand-up Mark Maier is an established, highly sought-after performer on the national and international comedy circuits.
He has worked comedy clubs in Germany, Holland, Ireland, Hong Kong, the Bahamas, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, and has appeared at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles and Caroline’s in New York. At home he has performed with the Comedy Store Players and taught and performed improvisation with Catherine Tate in London.
Before stand-up, Mark was an award-winning radio copywriter in the UK and in Hollywood. That writing background runs through his material, and a gift for accents and dialects took him into voiceover work on TV and radio.
On screen he appeared in The Harry Hill Movie, in cameo roles across Harry Hill’s TEA-TIME, and in two series of BBC sitcom Boy Meets Girl. For BBC Radio 4 he has written and performed a string of series, including Trapped, Inner Voices and the sitcom Quando, Quando, Quando.

Jewvenile mixes storytelling, character comedy and crowd work, and is a tribute to his late father Werner, whose survival instinct and dark sense of humour Mark inherited. Along the way you’ll meet the enigmatic Rabbi Schnitzel, hunched beneath a voluminous tallit.
